pulp, ink. is an award-winning design studio specializing in books and printed ephemera for museums, galleries, artists and other cultural clients. It regularly works with the Museum of Modern Art, the Pérez Art Museum Miami and other global arts institutions and has been recognized by the AIGA, Design Observer and the Huffington Post. A one-person studio, pulp, ink. is known for its close collaborations with artists and curators. Beverly Joel brings a hands-on attention to all of the studios’ projects, focusing on every design detail from design through production.

Beverly Joel earned a fine arts degree from the Cooper Union, specializing in photography, drawing and typography. After working in the photo departments of both the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of the City of New York, she began a ten-year collaboration working with Barbara Glauber at the design firm Heavy Meta. She began working independently under the name pulp, ink. in 2006.
She has taught at New York University, been a visiting lecturer/critic at Columbia University and Parsons School of Design, and in 2016 was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. She has been an adjunct professor of graphic design at the Cooper Union since 2007.
